Maryia leads UnboundEd’s Innovation team and portfolio, focusing on launching and scaling products that will increase UnboundEd’s overall impact. These products represent a mix of focus areas, all focused on serving high-priority student populations (e.g., English Learners and multilingual learners) and related policy areas (e.g., improving information availability and accessibility regarding the quality of instructional materials in California).
Maryia started her career as a Teach for America Corps Member and special education teacher in the Bay Area. Later, Maryia was a lead elementary teacher in South Los Angeles, piloting a blended learning program and leading her school’s transition to the California Common Core State Standards. Immediately prior to Pivot, Maryia championed talent initiatives in teacher selection, retention, and equitable hiring practices at Green Dot Public Schools. She also served as a BTSA / induction coach for Spanish teachers pursuing their CA Clear Single Subject credential. She joined Pivot as a Program Manager in 2021, leading projects focusing on improving instructional materials in California through district adoption best practices and state-wide advocacy.
Maryia is a proud graduate of California public schools, an immigrant, and a former English Learner. She holds a B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology with minors in Language Teaching and Russian Language from UCLA, an M.P.P. in Education Policy from Vanderbilt University, a CA Multiple Subject credential, and a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certificate from the Project Management Institute.
