We’ll explore how to identify pivotal sentences and guide students in unpacking their meaning so comprehension becomes something they learn, not just something they show.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand why breaking down tricky sentence structure (syntax) is the key to students comprehending challenging text
  • Identify the systemic needs and resources required to embed effective syntax-focused comprehension strategies across a grade level or school.
  • Practice clear, step-by-step strategies to help teachers guide students in making meaning of dense, structurally complex sentences
