Encourage Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Problem-Solving
Student-centered tasks can address students’ unique needs and shift the cognitive lift from teacher to student. Use this tool to determine whether or not a student-centered approach is suitable for the type of learning in a task and, if it is, to increase the student thinking and interaction present in the task. Note that this tool is intended for Tier 1 instruction, so all tasks should be aligned to grade-level expectations.
