Adelfa Maria Hegarty is a seasoned educator with a passion for literacy consulting and teacher professional development. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, she has made significant contributions to enhancing literacy instruction and fostering teacher growth. She believes that literacy is the foundation of learning and a human right.
Adelfa has worked with schools and districts in California, Florida and Massachusetts to assess literacy needs, develop curriculum frameworks, and implement evidence-based instructional practices.
Adelfa obtained her undergraduate degree at Florida International University in Miami, FL. She spent most of her career in the San Francisco Bay Area as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and program director supporting various educational initiatives until her relocation to the East Coast in 2019 where she has spent her time as an education consultant supporting districts in Massachusetts in implementing high quality instructional materials (HQIM) in English language arts. She currently holds a masters degree in reading from California State University, Fullerton and hopes to continue her doctoral studies in literacy and language.
As Literacy Projects Manager, at UnboundEd, Adelfa supports the development and management of various literacy projects maintaining positive relationships with district and site partners.
