Janise Wright

Literacy Projects Coordinator

Janise is a dedicated former elementary educator passionate about fostering literacy and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. With a strong foundation in teaching and leadership, she made significant contributions as a founding teacher at charter schools in Rochester, NY, and Chicago. She was pivotal in establishing educational programs prioritizing student success and creating inclusive learning environments through holistic development.

In addition to stellar instruction, Janise’s cultural competence positively impacted and created safe spaces for students and adults. As nominated by her peers, she was recognized as her school’s Team and Family Award recipient. Janise was also a distinguished member of the 2022 Teacher Leadership Cohort of Illinois, where she engaged in professional development opportunities to enhance her leadership skills and knowledge of charter school policies in Illinois and nationwide.

Janise holds a degree in English and Urban Education, which has informed her practice and enabled her to address diverse student populations’ needs effectively.

Janise continues to make a lasting impact through her unwavering dedication to student success, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and passion for equity in education.
