Supporting California Districts in Bringing Effective Instruction to Every Classroom

California districts are making significant investments in high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), Multilingual Learner (ML) success, and improved outcomes for each and every student. But across the state, leaders face a common challenge: ensuring that these investments translate into consistent, effective instruction in every classroom.

UnboundEd partners with California districts to bridge the gap between vision and execution, equipping educators to turn standards, curriculum, and policy priorities into daily instructional practice that drives student success. We do this by working side-by-side with teachers, coaches, principals, and district leaders to ensure every student has access to grade-level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful — GLEAM® — instruction.

From Curriculum Adoption to Classroom Practice

HQIM are one of the most impactful levers for improving student outcomes, but materials alone are not enough. Without a clear adoption strategy, strong launch, and sustained implementation support, even the highest-quality curriculum can fall short of its promise.

UnboundEd partners with California districts across the full HQIM lifecycle, ensuring that curriculum decisions lead to meaningful, lasting changes in classroom instruction. Our approach connects the selection, introduction, implementation, and long-term sustainability of instructional materials so that every student experiences effective, standards-aligned instruction.

Curriculum Adoption

Adopting HQIM requires a rigorous, collaborative process. We’re here to guide and support the development of a collaborative curriculum selection process that is grounded in instructional priorities and focused on long-term implementation success.

Curriculum Implementation

Whether you’re just getting started with a new curriculum or strengthening implementation already underway, we work shoulder-to-shoulder with you to build a shared vision, an actionable plan, and the systems necessary for your success.

The UnboundEd Curriculum Adoption Team has been a valuable resource to support our planning of our pilot process, determining our district vision and goals around mathematics instruction and ideas for ensuring equitable access for all staff and students when it comes to high-quality materials. The team is very knowledgeable and helps keep you and your district team on track to go through this process seamlessly.

Built for Every Student: The UnboundEd HQIM Summit

Whether your district is exploring new instructional materials, preparing for an adoption, or working to strengthen implementation, success depends on more than the materials themselves. Join district and school leaders from across California at Built for Every Student: The UnboundEd HQIM Summit, taking place October 6–7 at UC Berkeley

During this two-day Summit, we’ll share the essential steps and strategies for conducting a thorough adoption or implementation, all while building buy-in for instructional change throughout your organization. Along the way, you’ll work with your team to develop the plans and tools you’ll need to launch your curriculum with confidence.
